Kathryn Byram, CCC-SLP

Katie Byram, MS CCC-SLP Katie is a medically trained Speech-Language Pathologist. She often finds it difficult to identify as a speech therapist or feeding specialist as her allegiance is first and foremost to baby, and his or her unique needs. Because of that, she often pushes discipline lines, pulling from a variety of modalities to treat each dysphagia. She has specialized in infant feeding since graduating from Chapman University, working in acute care at children’s hospitals across the country prior to entering private practice. So, what does she actually do? Katie’s strengths lie in her ability to continually assess a baby’s functional presentation and meet their needs in real time. The internet is filled with wonderful feeding information, but what actually applies to YOUR babe? Which sucking exercises should you do? How many? What about in 5 days? What musculature are you trying to activate and strengthen? Which need to be suppressed? Is there anything else going on? She understands the complexities of the whole body as they relate to infant feeding, and considers all potential comorbidities and manifestations associated with ankyloglossia. Katie is always amazed at a baby's ability to heal and reprogram. She is thrilled with the opportunity to holistically treat your family before, after or in the absence of a release.
